Here we are looking south. There were two inns in Riverside, the Anchor, still a prominent feature although the front has been reconstructed, and the Anglers, affectionately known to locals as the Annie Miles, the name of the lady manager in 1900 – the nickname is still in use today. In the distance can be seen a small shopping centre with a post office at the point where Spring Lane branches off from Riverside.

Stoke Park Road
I lived here when we moved from "Asfordby", which was a big house converted into flats in Church Road. I would walk up and down this road when I got old enough to go to school at the infants (my parents didn't have a car). I would come home for lunch too. I Remember Old Bishy Beach And The Chip Shop
Yes I remember getting chips from the chip shop when Mr and Mrs Pellerade had it - I knew Sandra and she had an older brother, Maurice. My friend, Sally Yarnold, lived just behind there in a cottage. We would often go paddling at Bishy beach at Riverside, but our main bathing place was at the Lloyd, where we would also take a jam jar on a string and catch minnows. We used to climb ...see more

Miss Star And Mr Collis
Miss Star was my teacher at Bishopstoke Infants. I also remember Mr Collis - I bumped into John Collis a few weeks ago who informs me he is now retired. I saw an article in the local paper and Mrs Cull who lives a few doors up from Mr & Mrs Collis has just recently turned 100 years old and has been in the same house for 69 years. I can remember going into the house behind Smarts fish and chip shop with my brother John who was friends with Maurice.

Smarts Fish N Chip Shop
I remember Maurice Pellerade well as he was a good mate of mine at school, is Maurice still around? Our teacher was Mr Jelfs & his son was Brian, before that our teacher was Mr Lloyd. Ah those were the days.

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
