Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

The Volunteer Arms
My Great Grandfather Alfred Saunders (1863-1944) looked after the Volunteer Arms before he semi-retired, he also had an interest in the Forest King Pub and the Percy Arms at Chilworth (plus he had shares in Hodgsons brewery) The Forest King and the Percy Arms were operated by his cousins and it was a cousin who temporarily took over the Volunteer Arms

Forest King Pub
My Great Great Grandparents Frederick & Mary Saunders owned the Forest King Pub. He is listed as a publican in the 1881 & 1891 census and Frederick died 24 Jan 1894 and Mary died in 1904. Alexander Saunders was then the licenced-victualler.

Pub
My gran owned the pub at Blackheath which was called the Forest King, it was on the edge of the cricket pitch. There was also another pub called the Volunteer on the next road. Does anybody remember them?

Memories
It has been almost 50 years since I have seen the inside of this church. My mother; Molly Risbridger) was married in this church to a Canadian soldier Mr. Ken Lloyd Maxted. I am their son Robert Glenn Maxted. Happy Anniversary! 2007 I love you Mom and Dad, Your Son, Glenn

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
