More about this scene
On the right is St Peter's, the parish church of Blaenavon, built by the ironmasters Hopkins and Hill in 1805. Almost everything in the church—the pillars, the window frames, the font and the tombs - is made of Blaenavon iron. The church with the central rose window and tower (left) is the Park Street Methodist church, built in 1885–86. To the left of it is the church school, which was well endowed by Miss Sarah Hopkins in 1816.
