More about this scene
The story goes that 'Bugger Bognor' were King George V's last words when threatened with another recuperation near this seaside resort. Unfortunately, the town had much of its heart punched out by 1960s development. The 1897 Diamond Jubilee drinking fountain was reerected in The Steyne gardens in 1969. The pier buildings are a shadow of their 1920s glory, with turrets gone, windows blocked and the tallest part demolished.
