Pine Trees Caravan Park

A Memory of Bordon.

My husband was in REME and came to Bordon on courses back in 1964/65. We lived on 2 occasions on Pine Trees Caravan Park. Myu son was only 6 weeks old when we moved into a very basic caravan with no running water and a toilet block to share with other families. Not ideal with a young child but I think back fondly on that time. We had lovely neighbours (a coal man and a dustbin man). The second time we have a bit more space and even had a separate bedroom but still no running water or bathroom. We eventually moved into a cottage in Linford with just one bedroom but the owners lived next door and had chickens - my son loved watching them. I remember a small general store on the main road (I was told off for handling the tomatoes just to see how ripe they were) and a hardware store on the way down towards the caravan site where we bought coke for the stove. Happy days. My son is now 53. We drove through Bordon a couple of years ago and I couldn't get my bearings.

My mum and sisters lived her for a while and mentioned a fire there. They never knew the full story of it but was sure that a child was hurt.
