Boston, The River Witham c.1955

More about this scene
This view is looking towards the town centre, and the boat ('BN3', a Boston-registered boat) is heading out to the Wash and the North Sea. The inner relief road, the John Adams Way, has made a tremendous difference to this scene, and only the River Witham is the same. The Boston Ship Stores Ltd (right) has gone, and the building with the chimney in the centre is now apartments. This is the area of the river where the shrimp boats tie up after a day's fishing along the coast.
