Lucerne Road

A Memory of Bramhall.

My parents decided to move to Bramhall and the estate just off Bramhall Lane was brand new and we moved into Lucerne Road. I was in Heaven even as a child I loved history there was the Park, Bramhall hall the woods I could sit for hours dreaming. Adswood wasnt connected in those days. my school was a bus and train ride away and I looked forward to coming home, That dream never left me. I was about 14 I think and I earned my spends at first by cleaning our windows and eventually I had a small window cleaning business. I was young, happy and had money. I also had a paper round in the village I LOVED Sunday morning Moss Lane and all around there that was where I was going to live when I became an adult. My daily round was Adelaide Road.
My dad had an accident at work and my parents informed my sister and I we were moving to Adelaide Australia. It broke my heart. I hated Australia with a passion and Bramhall became this dream that had been taken away from me.
Now many years later I have visited Bramhall several times on trips to England I have walked those streets again, I have timed it so I could be there at Christmas, I have again walked in the snow as I did as a child. That dream I will forever hold in my heart will always burn bright. My sadness is that I could now never afford a house in the village because if I could after so many years I would still move back without any hesitation. To all who live in Bramhall you are living my dream. You live in one of the best places anywhere enjoy it.
