Bristol, The City And The Cathedral 1900

More about this scene
A view over the rooftops of Bristol. To the right of the cathedral can be seen something of the warehouses and wharves of the city docks. In the centre of the picture, to the left of the church spire, is one of the cone-shaped furnaces of a glassworks, somewhat akin to the bottlekilns of the Potteries. In 1793 Bristol had at least a dozen glassworks, producing a wide variety of glass and bottles for customers throughout the West Country.
