More about this scene

Today, Brockworth is altogether urbanised, a suburb of Gloucester. But when this photograph was taken, it was a village with its own character and community. The tranquil scene captured here reminds us how large-scale housing development in the past few decades has changed the nature of so many former villages. Brockworth church is late Norman and 13th-century, while the adjacent Brockworth Court dates from the 16th century and was built for the last prior of Llanthony.

Boy oh boy that used to be freezing, until the summer of 1976. A very hot year that was, the spring was not as cold ...see more
