I remember the Pink Clock, a small boutique set back a little from the road at the top end of Queens Road, next to the Post Office if I recall correctly. The shop was owned/ran by Debra Watling who was in Dr Who. She had a sister Dilys, also an actress. Their father was Jack Watling, a well known film and TV actor. They lived at the top of Alderton Hill, Loughton.
There was a hairdressers across the road and further down from that was a very small Spar Supermarket, owned and ran by two brothers who had one other shop at the time I believe, in Chingford. This was at a time when supermarkets in the UK where still quite new.
I believe one of the Watling girls also set up two record shops - ‘Pop Inn’ - one in Loughton, one at South Woodford

Bought some of my first lp’s there - made the world a generally happier place
