More about this scene
To the west of Thoresby, on the Ollerton to Worksop road, the first Earl Manvers of Thoresby built a small estate village around 1810. Designed by William Wilkins, the houses were fairly plain, with rendered elevations; the only elaboration was Gothic tracery timber windows and some bow windows and porches. The one on the right, North Farm House, has had its farm buildings converted into the Dukeries Antiques Centre. The stream is the River Meden, which feeds into Thoresby's enormous ornamental lake.
