New Inn

A Memory of Byfield.

Nice to see your name again Mike. I well remember the New Inn as it was where my dad had a garage for his car when we lived at Bank cottages and later Fessey Road. There were then 4 pubs in the village; New Inn, White Lion, The Bell, and the Rose & Crown. We moved on from the village in the early 60's and I now live in Market Harborough.

My parents kept the Falcon Inn At Priors Marston from 1958 till 1970. I think I remember you. Also Dick Laurie. Some lads from Woodford with Motor bikes. I can't remember all their names but they came to our village youth club & various dances we had.
Also some lads worked on the railway & had a club house on the site of the White Hart pub at Woodford Halse. We used to cycle from Priors Marston to By field &Woodford. Happy Days. We always felt safe.
Further to the previous post looking at the Village photos I think there is one of my dad's car outside the school looking down Banbury Lane. The school was run by a Mr Jackson a no nonsense Yorkshireman. Fellow pupils at the time were Terry Hennings, Ian Lawson,David Dalton & his brother Trevor,Brian & Barry Ellard, Keith Amey Mike Williams Dick Laurie , Guy Holton and several others whose names collectively escape me.
does anyone remember the wrights, or claude allen who died in 1997
