More about this scene
Pembroke College was founded in 1347, and is significant in that it was here that Christopher Wren first translated a design from the drawing board into stone. It was commissioned by Wren's uncle, the Bishop of Ely, who after spending eighteen years in prison, decided that a building would be a fitting way to celebrate his release!
