More about this scene
Punting in a skirt- what fun! Wren's bridge, built by Robert Rumbold in 1709-12, has a balustraded parapet and heraldic beasts on display. It is also known as Kitchen Bridge; it seems that the master and fellows of St John's defied the architect and had it put at the end of the lane leading to the college kitchens.
