This is a beautiful example of the mixing of stone and timberwork that is typical of many houses that snuggle amongst the hills of southern Shropshire. The house is called Brook House; there is an inscription above the crest over the porch (just to the right of the road sign) that dates the building to 1574.

I am researching into my family history and find my great grandfather came from Enchmarsh near Cardington and I believe he lived in the area all of his life, his name was William Cooke, 1859-1911. He was a stone mason/bricklayer, his son, my Grandfather, was Edwin Cooke, 1892-1973. I would like to be able to add to my family tree, if anyone can help?
