More about this scene
Cartmel has been described as a cathedral city in miniature. With its magnificent 12th-century priory church of St Mary, its market cross and broad cobbled square, it is perennially popular with visitors. Here ducks dabble peacefully in the beck which runs through the centre of the village, while a mother proudly poses with her baby. In the background, a notice on the shop advertises a 20hp Ford car for hire.
