More about this scene

These two views of the steep high street as it winds up the hill towards Canterbury show some of the rich assortment of buildings built of brick or black-and-white half timbering. At the junction of the road leading to Lenham is the grander Pierce House, set back from the road.

A Selection of Memories from Charing

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Charing

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

I was in a children's home for a very short time in the summer of 1946. Does anyone have any infomation? I believe it was called The Lantern.
I was born in Kench Hill Nursing Home to parents living in Payne Street Farm, Charing but have never visited. Does it appear on the map or jigsaw puzzle?
