More about this scene
We are looking south- eastwards from West Hill across to the Victorian villas on the sylvan summit of East Hill, glimpsing the tower of the parish church (left). A range of three 16th-century thatched cottages in banded flint and Hamstone is down to the right. Wheat-straw covered chalk clunch walls at Haydon Farm, and a long 1704-dated barn in Flemish-bond brickwork, stood beside a hayrick in the centre of the village.
