Cheadle, The White Hart Hotel c.1965

I lived in the station house on Cheadle station. Can't remember it as I left when I was two. I do remember going to visit the people who lived in the cottages on the other platform. I believe the Station house is now a pub.

I lived at 2 Church Street, Cheadle, opposite the cemetary. My maiden name was Clarke; we lived there until 1948 and then moved to Oak Road. I went to Broadway School from 1946 to 1950 and am looking to see if anyone has any photographs of these years in school. I looked at the Broadway site, but none on there of me. Can anyone assist?

I went to Cheadle County Grammar School for girls, which was down the road from Moseley Hall Grammar School for boys. On Saturdays, and during the school holidays, I worked at Duncan & Foster's bakery & cafe. I worked there from about 1965 to 1968. I don't know if it still exists or not.

The White Hart was my home for many years until I married. My father and mother managed the White Hart for over 25 years and are both at rest now in Cheadle parish church. I have seen many changes both in the village and the hotel itself. My father was a very well known personality and was well respected. The cocktail bar was quite famous, as were the sandwiches!
