By the 1950s, it was becoming apparent that Chelmsford had a traffic problem: these Ford Consuls and Austin A35s, among others, had seen to that. The 'No Entry - One Way Street' signs were an attempt to effect a remedy. In the background, Barclay's Bank stands on a site already occupied by a bank in 1790.
