More about this scene
Woodford, Waltham Abbey and West Ham were all disappointed. The church's dedication was changed to St Mary the Virgin, St Peter and St Cedd - the latter being a Northumbrian monk who had done early missionary work in Essex. The tall cross is in memory of Henry Johnson, rector here 1880-94.
