The ironmonger on the right has taken every opportunity to display the variety of his wares, though the children will almost certainly be more interested in the next shop along where both Chester rock and ice cream are on sale. For those wishing to partake of something a little more wholesome, the Central Dining Rooms are just a few yards further on.

Hi I was born at Chester Nursing Home - 11 Stanley Place, Chester in April 1943. I am wondering what happened to the Nursing Home and if anyone can give me a some history and photograph of the building it was situated in,

i was born in the infirmary in 1944 and lived in Claremont Walk by Bold Square
i remember the tanks as they were disturbing the tarmac on the way from the station to the rodee
born Eaton road. 1946.my grandmother lived on greenaway street.name of Peake.always watched the fishermen bringing their nets in.
Does anyone else remember the Autumn Sports held in August with the parade of morris dancers not the usual type, they all had bells on their pumps and were very like the American Majorettes, we used to watch it from the top of Canal Street then they used to have competitions on the Roodee afterwards.
