Hello Mike,
My parents were friendly with Miss Steer and her dogs - I remember the masses of hair and pretty pungent smell. We lived in Millers Close on Millers Lane, and used to shop regularly at Party and Johnson, also the bakers and I remember getting sugar from your shop in blue bags. Do you remember Mr Fuller's junk shop, and the sweets shop next to it. I used to ride at the stables, it was terrible when they burned down. I also remember very well Mr Bliss with the Ice Cream shop. Many lovely memories, although I left there when I was 10 In'57. Love to hear your memories. regards,Jenny
Darned predictive text, should have read Pardy and Johnson
Mr and Mrs Bliss were my Uncle Harry and Auntie Annie. She was my father's aunt. We visited them often and we're always treated to ice-creams. His stall had a sign which read "my ices may be beaten but they take a lot of licking"!
