Chigwell, The Meadow c.1960

More about this scene
The spire in the background is that of St Mary's, and this view has not changed. The meadow behind the present rectory, now over-run with rabbits, shows how well the village has been preserved, with most of the developments to the south and west. We can see why Pevsner described Chigwell as the first true village north east out of London.
