This brick Jacobean mansion was built in 1616 for Sir Dudley Digges, a Master of the Rolls, and is claimed to be to the design of Inigo Jones. The terraced and topiary gardens contain the first wisteria and mulberry ever to be planted in Britain, and were landscaped by Capability Brown and John Tradescant.

No I'm not joking, when we first got married we lived in a flat in Chilham Castle which was at the time above the Battle of Britain museum at the rear of the castle, yes it was cold there in the winter.
