Came Back In 2009 ........ What A Shock :)

A Memory of Chingford.

We lived on Normanshire Dr early 60s. Went to school on the New Rd then to Wellington Ave; at that time Wellington Ave boys and girls were separated. Loved the fish and chip shop and Rossi's ice cream. Went to the Odeon on Saturday mornings with my sister then we would rush home and listen to the radio messages of the military dedication songs and messages to loved ones. As with others spent a lot of time at the Larkswood Swimming pool. School I think took us once a week and also had our end of year swimming races etc. We had our athletics races etc at the dog track in Walthamstow. With friends we would buy a full day bus pass have such fun. We would also go indoor swimming in Walthamstow. We later moved to North Chingford where I would bike to Wellington Ave. Remember all meeting in morning for religious services. Coltas had the class for RE. Flint taught us sex education. Kenny the benny taught us sports of some kind. Math teacher was a nice feller limped and arm was messed up. We did woodwork, metalwork technical drawing. I think Mitchell was our science teacher. One time he was tired of me slapped me around the head and poured water over me. My mother said "serves me right". Rarely they used to send you down to the head master to get cained. Tech college in Loughton great fun. Met an Irish beauty we lived in Northern California for 35 years .... what a blast. Arrived in San Francisco still had a few hippies: U.S. was still at war in Vietnam. We came back in 2009 and boy what a shock. :)
