More about this scene

A small town at the gateway to Wales, close to the English border and Offa's Dyke, Chirk is noted both for its castle, in continuous occupation from the 13th century, and its position at the entrance to the beautiful Glyn Ceirog, for many years an important route into mid Wales. The present castle dates from the 14th century; it was bought in 1595 by Sir Thomas Myddleton, who installed its beautiful but incongruous windows.
