More about this scene
Owing to inadequate foundations, the tower of St John's showed signs of stress shortly after it was built in 1420. The spur buttresses that were added as an emergency measure on the north and south sides can clearly be seen in this view. Daniel George Bingham, a great benefactor to Cirencester, was born in Blackjack Street in 1830.
