From the avenue lined with lime trees the eye is drawn eastwards to the 162-foot high tower of St John the Baptist's, the tallest tower in Gloucestershire, containing a ring of twelve bells with the tenor weighing 26 cwt (over 1.25 metric tonnes).

During late July to early August, 1966, while visiting the U.K. from the States, I stayed in a stone duplex off the eastern main road into Cirencester from Oxford. One half of the house was occupied by three students from the Royal Agricultural University with whom I stayed, and the other half was the home of a lady with a young daughter. Can anyone please tell me when the terraced houses in Bowling Green Crescent, Ciren, were demolished? My Gran's house was the end of the terrace, I believe the gate number was 48? I took my wife there for her first time in the Cotswolds and was greeted by a line of newish semi detached houses with smaller front gardens? My Gran's house, as the others did, had very long gardens, and a bit steep too? Thank you to anyone who can help?
