In 1962-3 I rented a bed-sit in Hughenden Road Clifton for my final year at Bristol Uni. Shared with another chap, also a student. The winter was the year when snow seemed to fall over many nights, the pavements were very slippery with much ice, but the roads were kept fairly clear so that buses and other traffic could travel. My grandmother MARGARET WILLIAMS was born1876 at 14 BRIGHT STREET in the registration district of CLIFTON,sub district SAINT GEORGE could anyone inform me whether the address still exists,was it damaged at all during the war.I would be interested for any info. on the area and for any info.of the relatives of MARGARET WILLIAMS.
In the years of early 1960 through the 1970's my mother Iris Beilby was the housekeeper and cook to the High Court Judges when they were in attendance at the courts in Bristol. She had for a number of years attended to their needs when the were on circuit travelling around the country. I was recently given a copy of your delightful book - 'Around Bristol'. I was born just outside Bristol - my parents and brothers survived being bombed in their house in Clifton (I have some pictures) - and lived in Clifton from 1946 to 1969.
