Also does anyone recall Mr and Mrs Allen who were the only house to have electricity and let all the local kids in to watch childrens hour lol.

I remember going to Osbond st public baths while mum went to the wash house next door on a Saturday.
My best friends were Maureen Maddy who ive tried and failed to find unfortunately, Joan Degan and the Kerrigan family.

Also have fond memories of the reverand mother sister Mary and also Miss Connolly the cook..... with the bent fingers lol

Has been lovely reading and reminiscing about all these memories on the collyhurst site

Chris, if I am correct, your uncle was married to my mother, Anita.
I am Sean Biesty, we lived at 4 Railway Street from about1949 until 1960. My dad was Jim and he worked for Jarvis', a construction company. My mother was May. I had 5 younger siblings, Jimmy, Colleen, Steven, Eileen and Eamonn. I remember watching the Allen's TV! I remember the Barlows, the Kennedies ( our neighbours) the O'Gradies, the Barkers, the Kidds in Rome Street and Johnny's Stones' family. Does anyone remember Tony Plazak ( he was Polish ). We went to St.Pat's and I remember the street parties and the Bonfire nights on New Allen Street. I saw the demolition with my own eyes from my bike. We moved to Withenshawe before the demolition. We had no front door when we moved in, my dad had to build one. I told stories to my siblings and Irene Kennedy used to listen though a hole. They moved to Langley. Do you remember the cotton Mill at the bottom of Railway street? Now I live in Canada but my dad still lives in the house we moved to in Wythenshawe.
Does anyone remember the Hugh Oldham Boys' Club in Livesey Street? The Barlow's old man was a rag and bone man. The Barlow's never had a front door at all, they just had a curtain.
Yes, my Dad and his brothers were members of Hugh Oldham Lads club. They took part in all the sports until it closed. I remember going to the cricket matches every Saturday as a child. Any information on George Stanley appreciated.
