Combeinteignhead, All Saints Church And The Village 1890

More about this scene

Combeinteignhead takes its name from the valley which runs down to the Teign estuary at Combe Cellars. Conditions here were so bad during the Great Blizzard of 1891 that the local blacksmith and his apprentice had to dig their way to the local well and then dig back across the village to get water to relatives.
