My best friend lived in the Highgate pub on Benfieldside road across from the miners arms does anyone else remember the pub and have any photos?also what year was it demolished? We had such fun in that pub x great memories x

Just came across your comment. My mum (now 86), remembers the Highgate Inn from when she was about 12 years old. It was run by her mothers friend John (Jack) Simpson who had 2 daughters, Joan and Laura, and a son John. Unfortunately she has no photographs. Not sure which era you are from or if it's the same pub.

No not the right pub I was born in 1975 this was in consett Co Durham wasn’t called the Highgate Inn just the Highgate
