Up At 5.45 For Chapel!

A Memory of Copthorne.

I was at Copthorne convent from 69-74....
This was a very special place and I remember it like yesterday... The girls and boys there were equally like brothers and sisters.. I still remember how gutted i was when i left....I remember walking up the drive after summer hols into the amazingly neat gardens being greeted by Rev mother. Edmund... And lugging the suit case up the drive to the boys place ! Through the little arched porch to be greeted by sr Philomena or sr Rosarie. My charge was Mark Ballard ..at that time..Murray Jarvis otto Calypi demo Bennett Benedict gordon Nicholas Foscoe John Cunningham ..Saturday football matches against other schools. Demo Benette who was a great goalie could do nothing to stop an 11-0 thrashing down at a mud bath Copthorne school for which they were given a very long lecture on school pride.....then my age were aloysious mark McCarthy Phivos and Mario Petrou oh and Anthony Barton..Christopher Robinson Daryl Grant Marco Cassatari Paul and Richard Cassela...witchy lane where supposedly some evil woman lived and Leo O rourke lost his boot in particularly thick mud.. The girls were great fun both in class "The day girls " and the boarder girls at clubs especially dance club on Friday Eve's, making eyes at the girls across the chapel bumping into them on the steps near class two all very exciting lol.. I remember Rachael Naylor/Bennett, ..whos dad paid a large lump of the cost of the new football pitch...Karen Naylor/Ramsey Aida Khalil Susanah Stewart Danielle Griffin.. Susan Darney Ashlene Honey amongst others .carol singing at the bottom of the drive...all these joint girl boys events seemed to be chances to see whoever was the latest love or fancy of your life lol ...great days.......would love to hear from anyone from my time at the convent
I was Edmund Ashton ..changed to Edmund C ...mid way....
