Great Memories
A Memory of Cowplain.
Hi there my name is Steve Belding and I used to live as a child in Cowplain. We lived at 29 Greenfield Crescent , I was 3 years old till I was 9. I went to Padnell Road School. My dad was store manager at Tesco in Gosport and Fareham. My Auntie Nell lived in North end , very near to a swimming pool park called The Lido. If memory serves me right dear old Uncle Charlie and Auntie Myrtle lived in Cosham. I did play mum up going to school quite a bit, sorry mum. Loved the old cars I used to see , Triumph heralds , minis , MG big car. I remember our neighbours were Don and Sheila , can’t remember the surname , had a son too. Opposite us were an Irish family with 3 daughters . The father had a financial shop in Cowplain. Gerry White I think. He drove a Hillman Hunter ! Daughters were Karen, Michelle can’t remember the last daughter or mums name . They had a woman friend , blonde , good looking too who I used to fancy! I was only 6 or 7! She drove a white Triumph herald , might been a sporty Vitesse. In behind where they lived was a big massive wood area. Used to spend hours here playing. Couple boys I played with was Martin Brown and his mate Kelvin. Martin Searle, bit of a naughty boy. 😮. I’ve just remembered a girl I played with her name was Karen Mountford. She lived at the end of Greenfield Crescent. That’s it for now, I’m now living in Camborne Cornwall. Take care everyone 👍 I wanna go back and memorise!
