Monkey Business

A Memory of Crayford.

Does anyone remember the monkey on tbe loose on Crayford Way, late 50s. Quite a lot of excitement at the time.

My mother was attacked by the monkey while waiting at the bus stop. she sustained really bad wounds to her leg which caused her to limp even to this day. The monkey escaped from a house in Mill Place. The police shot it. A work colleague moved into the house years later and while digging the garden he dug up the skeleton of the animal, I told him what had happened and he asked if I would like the skull but I don't think my mother would have been too impressed.
