More about this scene
The Odeon cinema is typical of the super cinema style of architecture that came into vogue during the 1930s. When redevelopment came, the Odeon survived, but a number of other buildings were demolished. They were replaced by uninspiring, flat-roofed shops of little or no merit. Tarmac replaced cobbles, and drab concrete street lamps got the better of the ornate standards in this picture.
