Thistleflat

A Memory of Crook.

Yes, I remember Pickford and Holland chimney, it was a landmark for the villas with the letters PH on it in white paint, it imortalised Phillip Hansom. I remember years later when it was demolished, must have been around 1983 or 1984. I remember when we used to have a rope swing inside the building and swing off the sacks full of white stuff. God help us if there was asbestos in them. Often we would get chased by the foreman. Also, can you remember Thistleflat the old signalbox with its old stove and the balcony you could walk around, another great camp for us girls. Six weeks school holidays in the summer stretched before us full of adventures. Homework rushed on the last night before return to school, we were never in the house were we, but plenty of fresh air and sun soaked complexions, although I don't think we stood still long enough for the sun to catch us. And the memories keep coming but will save them for another day.
