South End, Croydon

A Memory of Croydon.

1948 - 1966 - this is a shot of the Blue Anchor PH, looking north up South End towards the High Street. The turning on the right is Aberdeen Road.

Remember it well , used to have live music and was a good place to have a drink. I haven't touched a drop for 50 years as I couldn't get used to the various tastes of alcohol fortunately.
Yes, and still a pub, I believe. Last time I was there was 2007. Of course, this is NOT High Street itself. High Street is only just visible in the right far distance.
My memories of the blue anchor are sitting on the step outside with a lemonade and a bag of crisps (the ones with a blue bad of salt) while my dad was having a drink every Sunday.
