I Went To Dchs From 1948 To 1953 My Name Was Maureen Hurst Now Peacock
A Memory of Dagenham.
I remember all the people mentioned before . Including Pe teacher called Miss Law. I thought she was lovely. I was also there with Dudley Moore. I sang The lullaby from Midsummer Nights Dream. With Dudley playing piano. I also sang the first verse of Once in Royal David City in my first year Carol concert. I thought this was tradition at the Carol concert every year.
I was friends with Nellie Harrison at school. Once we left school we drifted as we had no phones then. Then Nellie returned to Australia. I have recently found her which is lovely as we message all the time. I lost touch with another friend for the same reason . Her name was June Chard. She was living in Bedfordshire. We were planning a visit but sadly June died. Great memories of being at DCHS. Not always good as I was a bit cheeky and often in detention. Happy days though.
