Loved Growing Up In Dagenham
A Memory of Dagenham.
Hi All, I moved out of Dagenham in 2006. I was born in Upney Hospital, Upney in 1968. Apart from living in Harlow for 2 years. I attended Village Infants, William Ford Junior School and then onto Dagenham Priory in School Lane (the upper school was in Rectory Road with an alleyway that took you through and cutting through Old Dagenham Park. I grew up just off Siviter Way in what was nicknamed “tin town houses”
My Nan and grandad owned a wool shop in Reede Road and I spent much time in Pondfield Park and crossing over the railway line bridge to Exeter Rd to get home.
We used to hang out over Old Dagenham Park and you could hire bats and balls from a little hut
Sometimes we would go to the adventure park in Parsloes park.
my dad and grandads all worked at Fords at some point. One of my grandads worked there for over 30 years and received a gold watch for his services
My mum worked on and off at May & Bakers at Dagenham East for many years until her health deteriorated maybe 2003/2004 her name was
Pat Miller (sadly passed away in 2014)
When I left home I moved to Vincent Rd just off Goresbrook Rd and stayed there for 16 years before moving away from the area but still in Essex
I have been back a few times but it’s changed beyond all recognition
Growing up in Dagenham was fantastic back then. Great memories
