More about this scene
Fairfax Place was built in the 1880s, replacing some 16th-century properties. Oldreive Brothers (left) were highly successful butchers, supplying the 'Britannia' and visiting ships. Their Christmas display had four tiers of dressed poultry hanging from the outside of the first storey, and staff had to remain on duty overnight to prevent chicken rustling.
