Dartmouth, New Quay 1890

More about this scene
'New' Quay was actually built in 1585. Before that, ships tied up at the churchyard wall of St Saviour's, the tower of which, built in 1631, can be seen in the centre. The Castle Hotel, with its imposing castellated frontage, dominates the waterfront. Dartmouth was once one of England's greatest ports, exporting wool and cloth.
