More about this scene

Davenham gets its name from the River Dane (a 'trickling stream'), although it sits just about halfway between it and the River Weaver. In 1965, according to a sign in the window of Price's electrical shop in the centre of the village, it was possible to rent a television at a cost of eight shillings a week. The sign is in the shop window with the blind drawn down, and can be deciphered when the photograph is considerably enlarged.
