More about this scene

The churchyard in Daventry is reportedly one of the largest in the country, but is now closed for burials. Children from the Abbey School in the 1950s had to cross the churchyard to go to the canteen for school dinners - this had to be timed to avoid funerals. The eastern end of the church has a fine Venetian window, a typical feature of 18th-century Palladian architecture.
