Daventry, Market Square And The Burton Memorial c.1965

More about this scene
Here is a general view of the old centre of Daventry. Comparing this with the earlier pictures, the memorial has gained a chequered kerbstone and a rash of road signs. It is looking sadly isolated, especially now that the backdrop of cottages has disappeared. Today, fortunately, the kerb and road signs have gone, and the road to the left is pedestrianised, which has reunited the memorial to its surroundings. However, the hub of the town has now moved to Bowen Square, the 1970s shopping precinct.
