Daventry, Sheaf Street c.1965

More about this scene
Redevelopment of Daventry began in the early sixties under a scheme to house Birmingham overspill population. The Daventry Civic Society was formed to preserve this historic street from demolition. Many of the properties were in need of restoration, but fortunately they were saved. Today the street is looking much smarter, and has also been pedestrianised. Brook Street, however, was largely demolished, as we can see from the void in the distance.
