More about this scene
A mile and a half north-east of Daventry, the Grand Junction (formerly the Grand Union) Canal cuts through the limestone ridge via the Braunston Tunnel. This view is of the east portal to the tunnel - it looks like any other canal bridge apart from the rusticated arch into the blackness. The house has been demolished, and to the left is the track for the barge horses who went overland to meet the barges at the other end of the tunnel.
