Dedisham House 1958/59

A Memory of Dedisham.

I went there in my 4th and 5th year my name is jeanette it has bittersweet memories the big dormitory the no pillow beds the nurses the cod liver oil the donkey called Neddy visiting every second Sunday the blue bell woods , rather river and the farm. A very snowed in winter the long hot summer of 59 the sick children , the compulsory hair cut the dentist who visited every six months who filled all your back teeth just in case . The fun and the being in trouble the long line of toilets you sat on in the morning till you went the walkway to the school room ah yes I remember it well my best friends Linda and Howard my favourite nurse Cynthia the 4pm nap on the floor .it wasn’t love but it was life and I feel I left home at 4 years old - hated it then grew to love it as it become home
