Dittisham, Beach Cottage c.1965

More about this scene
This beautiful cottage still stands, largely unaltered apart from a little pruning of the creeper on the walls and the trees to the left. Thatching in the South Hams was traditionally undertaken using reed from the shores of Slapton Ley, which was regarded as far superior to any other material.
